The Gregorios Foundation
Greg Gregorios Felix Aguilar Gregorios, Jr…. or “Greg” as he was known, was unexpectedly taken away from us on November 9, 2004, after suffering a heart attack. This came ten years after suffering a stroke which dramatically changed his quality of life. He was Edith’s husband for 38 years, father of Amie & Emerson and was only months from becoming a grandfather. At the age of 13, Greg left his family and the Philippines, in search of a better life. He worked at a U.S. Naval base in Guam and eventually enlisted in the U.S. Army. After four years in the military, he started his civilian life by working in the fields of eastern Washington. Eventually he moved to Seattle, attended South Seattle Community College, went to work for Boeing and started a family. After almost thirty years at Boeing, Greg & Edith moved to northern California to enjoy retirement, sunshine and golf. Greg loved the outdoors, enjoyed cooking and entertaining and most of all, spending time with his family. He was always known for being “the one” to count on. He helped many people, including helping his brother’s family and members of his wife’s family migrate to the United States - but Greg always had a soft spot for children and those less fortunate. The Foundation The Gregorios Foundation was established in 2007 to honor Greg’s legacy by positively impacting the lives of those afflicted with heart disease and by providing for the less fortunate, especially children. We will work closely with our beneficiaries to leverage their awareness programs, support their respective missions and provide financial support. The Hope Heart Institute is the primary beneficiary of the Gregorios Foundation. In the future, we hope to annually select one to two additional organizations, to support in a particular year. Selection will be based on their mission and alignment with our goals - to positively impact the lives of those afflicted with heart disease and to provide for the less fortunate, especially children.
Hope Heart Institute The mission of the Hope Heart Institute is to serve humanity through cardiovascular research and education. They are dedicated to preventing and treating heart and blood vessel disease, and improving the physical, emotional and spiritual quality of life for all at risk of - or afflicted with - cardiovascular disease. The Hope Heart Institute relies heavily on gifts from private citizens and foundations. Every gift they receive helps support the work of their researchers and educators in their efforts to prevent and fight cardiovascular disease. Affiliates include Columbia University, Duke Clinical Research Center, Harvard University, Mayo Clinic and The University of Washington. The Tournament The annual, Greg Gregorios Memorial Golf Tournament is the foundation’s primary fundraising event. Our first goal is for all to enjoy one of Greg’s favorite activities, in a fun and casual atmosphere. We will carefully select quality golf facilities in the Puget Sound area that will ensure success of this goal. Second, we want to have a positive impact on the mission of the Gregorios Foundation. In the end, it’s all about supporting our organizations. Each year we plan to raise our financial goals and help as many people as possible.
